Yaeltex

A design interface for interface design

After selling our first hundred MIDI controllers through one-on-one exchanges via email and video calls, we garnered ample insights to construct a framework that integrates design and technology, enhancing the interaction between creators and their machines.

8 layouts, 15 elements, full prints, infinite designs

The visible

Our comprehensive modular system comes to life in the Factory, serving as a white canvas where AV creatives can envision the perfect hardware for their studio and live setups.

Small, Medium, Long and Big

The cases

Every Yaeltex controller is meticulously built to order, starting with a case made from lenga wood, chosen for its durability, aesthetic allure, and sustainability. There are eight case shapes: four different sizes in two possible orientations.

Small

27.5 X 17 CM

This compact case packs a punch, offering a sleek design and ample space for essential controls.

Medium

31 X 24 CM

This versatile case offers ample space for a range of MIDI controllers, while its stylish design complements any setup.

Long

27.5 X 45 CM

This elongated case provides a spacious platform for extended controllers ideal for DJs and live performers.

Big

45 X 35.5 CM

The ultimate creative canvas. This expansive case offers limitless possibilities for complex and customized setups.

The Elements

The electronic building blocks of the framework are called elements. There are four main categories of elements: buttons, joysticks, faders and rotary. We continue to expand the list of possibilities, adding more options to the system.

Buttons

Buttons are tactile, programmable controls used to trigger various functions. They can be configured for toggling parameters (e.g., turning effects on/off, muting tracks), mode switching (e.g., changing presets, layers, or mappings), transport controls (e.g., play, pause, record) or triggering samples or sounds (like drum pads or one-shot effects).

RB41

Big 4×1 Rubber button arrangement with RGB LED feedback. Ideal to control parameters such as mutes, solos, triggers, selections, or some finger-drumming. They are non-velocity-sensitive.

RB-82M

Small 8×2 Rubber button arrangement with RGB LED feedback. Ideal to control some sequencers, navigation, general track controls, or even banks. They are
non-velocity-sensitive.

RB42

Medium-size-long buttons in a 4×2 arrangement, with RGB LEDs. Perfect to place under faders or potentiometers to control mutes, solos, triggers, select tracks, and more. They are non-velocity-sensitive.

RB-42M

Small rubber Button arrangement (4×2) with RGB LED feedback. They are half the size of the other small Button element.

ARC41 30

Arcade buttons. Virtually unbreakable. Ideal for parameters that will receive prolonged and abusive use (triggering clips, samples, effects, etc.) If you are adept at finger drumming these are your buttons.
Non-velocity-sensitive.

Joysticks

Joysticks are X-Y controls that allow for multidimensional parameter manipulation. They provide an expressive way to control multiple parameters at once, commonly used for synth modulation (e.g., pitch and filter cutoff simultaneously), spatial effects (e.g., panning and reverb depth) or performance dynamics (e.g., controlling two CC parameters at once in MIDI setups.)

JAL

2-axis analog joystick, loose. Metal shaft without return-to-center spring (modulation wheel style). Perfect for pitch control or some touch and go effects.

JAF

2-axis analog joystick, fixed. Metal shaft with return-to-center behavior (pitch wheel type). Ideal for pitch, modulations, effects, etc.

Faders

Faders are linear sliding controls used to adjust parameters smoothly. They move along a straight path and are commonly used for volume control (e.g., in mixers), effect modulation (e.g., filter sweeps, crossfading), and other precise parameter adjustments.

F-41-45

Classic 45mm travel Faders, metallic and medium hardness. Long life and good travel feeling. Ideal for volumes, ADSR s, sends, etc.

F-21-100

x2 long Faders with 10cm travel, perfect for mixer-style controllers. Their low mechanical resistance lets your fingers fly smoothly across the controls like a classic
retro studio mixer.

F-41M-100

A set of x4 long Faders (10cm travel), perfect for mixer-style controllers. The same components as the regular ones, but now in half the space.

F-41M-45

A set of x4 45mm Faders with dust cover and plastic caps. The same component as the regular ones, but now in half the space.

CF1

x1 capacitive innoFader with polished steel rails. A solid steel 8mm fader stem, designed to withstand even the hardest battering from a heavy-handed scratch DJ.

Rotary

Our potentiometers and encoders are ideal for applications that require precise control, such as volume adjustments or filter cutoffs, Fx tweaking, and more.

EE-41

Rotary encoders with push-button. Metallic, detented (with a soft click in each step) with RGB feedback of 13 segments + 1 RGB LED for the button. Ideal to control dynamic parameters. For more delicate use than the potentiometers.

P-41

Classic potentiometers, metal-made, and long-lasting. Ideal to control parameters like EQs, filters, volumes, etc.

P-41-M

x4 metal mini potentiometers with aluminum knobs. This element is a quarter the size of the regular potentiometers, also available at The Factory.

EP-41

Rotary encoders with push-button, metallic build, and smooth detents. Feature 13-segment RGB feedback plus an additional RGB LED on the button. Includes 4 endless encoders with click, arranged in a standard grid.

Display

Our displays provide clear, versatile visualization, ideal for intuitive interfaces and a wide range of applications.

DIS96

A full-color display (and you can include up to 16 per device) that can have a variety of uses. Coming soon

2mm aluminum faceplate

The front panels

The aluminum faceplate undergoes precision laser-cutting, anodization, and printing before assembly.

The magic inside and behind

The invisible

Yaeltex controllers boast compatibility with MIDI, HID, Keystrokes, and other protocols, ensuring seamless integration and flexibility in creative exploration. Multiple memory banks facilitate effortless shifts between configurations, enriching the user experience with expanded possibilities.

The brain that makes all this possible

The Kilomux

The Kilomux is literally the motherboard of every Yaeltex controller. It acts as a brain to which all elements are connected. It can handle up to 128 analog inputs, 64 encoders, and 256 buttons. It has 2 USB-C ports and MIDI (in/out/thru) ports. The Kilomux is managed and updated in Kilowhat.

Universal Remote Script

YURS: The Intelligent Ableton Integration For Your Custom Controller

YURS is the powerful software brain that creates a deep, bi-directional link between your custom Yaeltex controller and Ableton Live.

Where you tell your controller what to do

The Kilowhat?

Kilowhat is the configuration tool for your controller, where you can set up the messages that each component will send and receive, where they will be sent, save your configuration files, and the events to which your LED visual feedback will respond to.

Yaeltex controllers allow multiple configurations to be stored in memory banks so you can easily switch between them as needed.

100% unique, just like you
